THREE LIGHNTING COACHES SELECTED FOR PROMINENT POSITIONS

We have always been proud of the number of Lightning coaches who have been selected to move on to coaching positions at the high school and college levels. This year has been one of our most successful as reflected in the following appointments:

TIM CLUESS is now the new Head Coach of Iona College, a Division l program with a highly respected  history and a great future considering that Tim will be their new coach.

DANIEL MARK was just appointed an Assistant Coach at CW Post. He will be joining first year coach Chris Casey in their goal of continuing the winning tradition of Tim Cluess.

JOHN KIFFEL will be the new Head Coach at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset. John was previously an Assistant Coach at Long Island Lutheran High School.

We are very proud of these coaches accomplishments and we wish them all the best.  Their appointments certainly reflect very poitively on the quality of the Long Island Lightning coaching staff.

LIGHTNING LAW PLACES 3rd AT D2 NATIONALS

Long Island Lightning Law made up for a tough initial bracket in the Division II Nationals held in Orlando Florida. With losses to the Columbia Slammers(eventual Division II National Champion) and Vadosta BB Club(a top 16 National ranked team whose only loss was to the second place National Championship team), they had to settle for the Classic Division.

LIL Law won the next four games in a row as the team found it's rhythm and showed why it will remain a team to beat every time it takes the floor. Most of the tournament LIL Law had to play shorthanded due to various player injuries and illness. In the semi-finals this hurt them as they lost in double overtime 87-86 to a  very good but beatable Spiece Indy Ice team. Spiece Indy Ice team went on to win the Classic Division final by 20 points. LIL Law won the consolation game to place third.

Lightning Law is currently seeking dedicated quality players to add to their roster. Looking for power forward and center position, must have experience at a high level.
